Southern Surfing Wahine Share A Lockdown Beer

Bored in lockdown and struggling to stay out of the water? You’re not alone, but in this Covid-19 tarnished world there is a bright side: get creative like these southern surfing girls did.

The South Island Surfing Championships were supposed to have been held this past weekend (and the waves were pumping). Lucy Te Moananui took things into her own hands. Joined by some of New Zealand’s famous southern surfers she found a way to go surfing and have a beer with her mates.

From Kaikōura, to Whakatū , to Kawatiri, to Aparima, to Ōtepoti, to Ōtautahi and back to Kaikōura, the Southern Wāhine share a beer … or whisky, or milk, if that’s your preference.

Has this set a challenge to all the surfer girls cooped up in the North Island? We think so …
